So, we are currently fostering puppies from Animal Welfare League. The one is Chicago Ridge. Last week we brought all of our puppies in because I noticed they weren’t acting right. We thought it was kennel cough. After speaking with my friend’s mother, she told me it was probably pneumonia. Well, it was too late to go that night, so we brought them in the next day. The next day happened to be Sunday. On Sunday they have no actual vets, but I talked to someone who works there, and he managed to get us in with a vet tech. When we first arrived, I asked the woman seeing us if it was pneumonia. She held my puppy upside down, tapped him to get the mucus out of his body, and then responded no to my question. This was last week. At that time we had four one week old puppies. She gave them shots and meds. That night one of our puppies died. He was the runt, so I thought nothing of it. Not like it could be pneumonia or anything, right? Well today (two week birthday) my puppy Aurora got sick. I brought her to the vet (different one. In Plainfield for anyone who needs to know. Way better service.) and they told us she was dying from pneumonia. Fucking crazy, right? Bravo Animal Welfare League. We had to put her down, and pay for it ourselves. But don’t worry. You’ll be hearing from us soon.
P.S. The ‘vet tech’ we saw wasn’t trained. So if you bring an animal in there, make sure you see an actual vet.
